The Lead Operator will lead and direct plant operations including batching, quality control, inventory control, shipping and receiving, plant cleanup, equipment cleaning, minor maintenance, facilities management, and other duties as directed by management.
- Maintain a safe work environment at all times.
- Manage production of a Mixed Hydroxide Product (MHP) within specifications.
- Direct employees to achieve shift goals and targets.
- Load and unload solid materials in super sacks, IBCs, or pallets from the warehouse.
- Maintain and manage inventory levels of all raw materials and products.
- Monitor and adjust processes to maintain the quality and quantity required.
- Perform various quality control functions and tests.
- Keep plants and grounds clean and organized.
- Perform and assist with various plant maintenance tasks such as greasing, minor machine adjustments, cleaning bag houses, filters, and venting systems, calibrations, and plant system checks.
- Use a plant control system to monitor process trends.
- Unload bulk tanker trucks.
- Process daily paperwork, including production reports as required.
- Implement and support company safety and environmental programs. Check and approve wastewater for discharge to the public system (POTW).
- Train and educate new and current employees on new and existing processes and procedures.
- Forklift operations as necessary (loading and unloading trucks, in-plant movement).
- Create and implement plant improvement ideas in concert with management.
- Lead by example in safety, Nth Cycle culture, respect, team-building, etc.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Ability to learn forklift operation.
- Chemical plant manufacturing experience (5 years, minimum), preferably more. Work with other company personnel, suppliers, truckers, and customers in a professional manner.
- Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to apply common sense and safety to vague instructions.
- Ability to lead and delegate in a professional manner.
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical functions of various components and equipment including electrical, pneumatics, compressed air, batch plant equipment, water systems, and computerized batching equipment.
- Keep accurate and legible paperwork and computer files.
- Experience controlling chemical processes, both manually and with computer controls.
- Experience leading a crew or shift.
