The base salary range for an Agency Account Executive is $75,000 to $85,000. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and internal tenure & equity.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for performance based annual incentive plan.
Agency Account Executive Overview
The Agency Account Executive is responsible for the overall management of assigned accounts within a defined territory.
They are responsible for working with their accounts to determine the appropriate product mix necessary for the client, manage quote process, negotiate rates, present to client for approval and assure successful enrollment and management of the enrollment process.
The products offered include all available ancillary and voluntary products that meet the objectives of the client.
- The Agency Account Executive is accountable for the development and management of a strong relationship with assigned clients and Blue Cross distribution representatives including the assurance that all service and production goals are being met in order to achieve client and agency goals.
- The Agency Account Executive must be able to adapt to the changing environment and serve as a subject matter expert for the assigned accounts.
This role will also utilize its experience in Ancillary and Voluntary products to assist in the development of Sales training and implementation of sales within recently acquired agencies.
This includes the assistance of marketing to brokers, TPAs and groups directly as necessary. They will communicate and assist in sales, enrollment and submission of new business from the acquired agencies.
This role will ultimately serve as a subject matter expert throughout the sales process.
Essential Duties
- Responsible for product selection, vendor selection, and all phases of implementation and enrollment. This includes utilizing appropriate marketing materials to maximize enrollment and setting the enrollment conditions necessary to achieve optimal results.
- Work with the Sales and Service team and all external partners in the development of an enrollment strategy designed for optimal success.
Success is measured as optimal client penetration of client offerings, successful transmission of data to enrollment services and then to the vendor.
- Oversees the entire new group or renewal process from data gathering to post enrollment functions. Provides sales support for all reenrollments, perpetual enrollments and on customer needs for the following but not limited to : Prepares RFQs, negotiates rate with various carriers, makes recommendations on product offerings, preparing various pre and post enrollment reports, quoting, correspondence, OE flyers, benefit summaries, enrollment forms, mater applications, commission forms and product brochures.
- Review all initial billings with the client to assure their understanding and the needs of their employees are being met.
Who handles escalated issues including billing reconciliation, policyholder / client problems. this position will gather all necessity to handle customer questions and / or hand all needed information off to the Support Specialist to perform recon / research.
- Quarterly create annual strategic account plans on top 5 accounts and provide regular updates within the Agency CRM system.
- Keep all appointments and client activity current within the CRM system.
- Serve as training and sales coordinator of Ancillary and Voluntary Insurance products to acquired agencies.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in employee benefits.
- Insurance Agent license in Health and Life.
- 5 years’ experience in Employee Benefit Sales or Account Management of Service related products.
- Or, equivalent military experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- 4 years or more of College education.
- 8 years’ experience in employee benefit organizations or in a similar company within the insurance industry.
