Morning Edition News Host

WYPR FM is Baltimore’s NPR radio station is looking for a Morning Edition News Host who will guide listeners through daily news programming in ways that are listener-focused, engaging, personable, and timely.

They will be good company, an engaging guide, and let listeners know what’s happening each day in Baltimore and the world.

The host delivers the highest public radio standards for presenting news, weather, traffic and produced content to a live audience.

The host will also create periodic content for broadcast and digital (, fundraising, web, production and participating in live on-air fundraising), and fill in on other shifts as needed.

The new hire is expected to reside in the Baltimore area upon starting - this is not a remote position. This position will host Morning Edition Monday through Friday.

The schedule will be from 4 : 30 to 11 : 00

Essential Responsibilities :

• Serve as on-air host and newscaster during assigned shifts adhering to all FCC regulations and WYPR standard operation procedures.
• Engage the audience in a conversational, genuine, authentic manner.
• Produces promotional and other content for WYPR.
• Participates in special news and interview programs, on-air fundraising, and station events in the community.
• Effectively operate the live studio audio board during all programming, including newscasts.
• Able to follow national and local programming clocks and deliver engaging live continuity and accurate newscasts.
• Assists and participates in live and recorded on-air fundraising.
• Bring context to - breaking news stories, local and national press conferences that are aired live on WYPR.
• Ability to work; Mon - Fri 4 : 30 am 11 : 00am

Knowledge and Competencies :

• Identification with the mission and purpose of Baltimore Public Media.
• At least 3 years on-air hosting and production experience in radio.
• Meticulous sense of detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Active communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with a wide range of staff and activities.
• Working knowledge of Baltimore Public Media programming and public media overall is preferred.
• Observes work rules and practices covered during the orientation process and practices appropriate conduct as outlined in the Baltimore Public Media Handbook.
• Access to a personal vehicle highly desired.
