Atrium are looking an experienced HR Leader with a love for Employee Relations to be the next Human Resource Director for the beautiful Sheraton Norfolk.

As the Director of Human Resources is to support property leadership and associates by providing consultation and guidance on various human resources matters such as staffing plans, associate relations, compensation, benefits, training and development as well as any strategic business initiatives impacting the business and / or the associates.

TheDirector will be tasked with the following duties, responsibilities, and assignments :

  • Provide advice and counsel regarding employment decisions to operational leadersin areas including but not limited to the followingareas : Talent Acquisition / Recruitment, Compensation Management, Benefits Administration, Training and Development, Performance Management, Employee Relations, and ComplianceManagement;
  • Ensurecompliance with all federal, state, and local employmentlaws;
  • Foster and representAtrium’s Core Values and culture through effective application of policies and proceduresas well as via associate events and recognitionprograms;
  • Supportand lead asappropriatefull cycle recruiting including but not limited to partnering with hiring managers, candidate experience, effectively managing applicant tracking system andcompliance;

Engage,supportand represent the local communityin alignment with our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillars and other areas of need, as appropriate.

  • the property and Atrium in the local community tomaintain a positiveimage;
  • In partnership with Regional and Corporate leadership, responsible forthetraining, development and performance management of all propertyassociates;
  • Maintain associate filesin accordancetothe established guidelines;
  • Educateassociates on benefitplan offeringsandotheravailableresources;
  • Assume a leadership role regardingWorkers Compensationmattersas well as, co-chairing the safety team to ensure all Atrium, local, stateand OSHA guidelines and procedures areachieved;
  • Fostering an open-door policy to encourage transparent and honest communicationusing all available communicationvehicles;
  • Partner withdesignatedCorporatefunctions and teamsto ensure payroll is processed correctly and finalized within the designatedtimeline;

Manageassociatesby ensuringtheyunderstand employment practices, recommending employment decisions and corrective action, supporting performance management, and implementing discipline;and

Any and allother work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position.

Qualifications :

Required Prior Experience :

5+ years of Human Resources experience as a HR leader with broad HR Generalist skills

Working knowledge and practice of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, COBRA, etc. and an understanding of state and federal law

Preferred Prior Experience :

Hospitality experience

Prior experience implementing HR strategies and initiatives

Required Education :

Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or related field of study; or equivalent experience

Required Licenses / Certification :

HR Certification active or in process

Required Technology :

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Technology :

Workday experience

Physical :

8+ hours at a desk / computer

Other :

Excellent communication, presentation and listening skills

Bi-Lingual Preferred

Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
