Job Description :
- Work collaboratively with principals, deans, expert teachers, teachers, and staff to drive a culture of equity and excellence for students, staff, and the greater community.
- Serve as an active and engaged member of the Instructional Leadership Team and other school based teams to keep current of school and district priorities.
- Serve as a leader resource to drive district priorities in the following areas :
Learning Experiences : 2.1 Strengthen Tier 1 instruction to ensure consistent access to high-quality, grade-level instruction
- Whole Child : 4.1 Develop a plan to increase access to and quality of social emotional learning (SEL).
- Inclusion : 3.1 Identify, train, and monitor implementation of key inclusive practices to close performance gaps with MLL and SPED.
- Effectively disseminates and distributes information obtained from schoolbased teams to respective grade levels / teams.
- Effectively collects information requested from administration and expert teachers to plan for and lead professional development, lead professional dialogue, and offer support to colleagues within the specific grade levels / teams in order to enhance and progress toward meeting school and district goals and priorities.
- Serve as an assigned Teacher Mentor to specific identified teachers by meeting regularly, conducting informal observations, and providing coaching / guidance to support the development of educators.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, teamwork and professionalism in their grade level(s). Ensure accurate report card grade entry for assigned grade level(s) or subject areas in School Brains.
- Serve as an expert resource on content and pedagogy for their grade level(s) and, where applicable, use their Department Chair duties time for this purpose.
- Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree in Education or a related area is preferred.
- Currently holds a Professional Teachers License.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best current instructional practices in the field / subject area. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, coach, and lead others.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current curriculum frameworks and Holyoke Public Schools curriculum plans.
- Meets the criteria descriptions above
- If no member of the department who applies meets the specific criteria, the principal may waive the qualifications.
- History of leadership in curriculum development and / or School Improvement Planning Team.
Responsibilities :
- ILT members must attend all ILT meetings.
- ILT members will lead at least one PLC throughout the school year.
