We're actively seeking a talented Defined Contribution (DC) Strategist to join our Defined Contribution Lifetime Income (DCLI) team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE to work remotely, on a hybrid schedule, or in the office.

As the DC Strategist you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by leading efforts to develop, implement and manage strategies related to bringing guaranteed solutions to Defined Contribution Plans.

This role requires expertise in Defined Contribution plan design, investment selection, lifetime income solutions, regulatory compliance factors and effective participant engagement tactics.

As a thought leader in DCLI design, the DC Strategists works closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to define and deliver innovative solutions to deliver retirement outcomes for participants.

How you'll help move us forward :

  • Collaborate with clients and DC Product Manager to design and implement defined contribution lifetime income solutions built to meet stated needs and objectives of retirement plans.
  • Play a key role in the business planning and development of near and long term goals of the DCLI offering.
  • Identify and coordinate potential solution strategy opportunities with our retail business.
  • Collaborate with the DCLI Product Marketer on product strategy and audience messaging.
  • Strong collaboration with marketing, national markets and strategic partnerships to enhance our DCLI narrative and amplify our voice in the market.
  • Optimize participant outcomes based on an understanding of plan features designed to help promote better retirement outcomes.
  • Develop materials, conduct workshops, and provide guidance to help participants maximize the value of their retirement savings through utilization of lifetime income solutions.
  • Partner with research to develop and drive thought leadership agenda; distill insights into audience specific messaging connected to our go-to-market strategy including through webinars, podcasts, whitepapers, conferences and driving engagement with media organizations.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities to add value and enhance retirement outcome effectiveness.
  • Participate in client facing meetings, acting as SME and supporting national markets team in their distribution efforts.
  • In collaboration with DCLI product teams, monitor DCLI competitive landscape to understand trends, perform due diligence and understand impact to Pacific Life efforts and positioning of our solutions in market.
  • Conduct sales training to help build internal awareness of lifetime income solutions available within defined contribution plans.
  • Partner with DCLI product team to monitor Pacific Life product performance, conduct internal reviews and make recommendations for roadmap changes as appropriate.
  • Design and execute participant communication tactics to increase understanding of retirement plan benefits and support informed decisions throughout the retirement journey.
  • Be up-to-date on regulatory changes and industry trends and best practices related to defined contribution plans and lifetime income solutions.
  • Ensure plan compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, such as ERISA, IRS regulations, and Department of Labor guidelines as it relates to incorporating DCLI solutions.
  • Represent Pacific Life and our DCLI business at industry events and conferences.

The experience you bring :

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, economics or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated 10+ years of Defined Contribution experience.
  • FINRA Series 6 & 63.
  • State life and health license preferred.
  • Proven history of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence, partner and collaborate with divisional stakeholders.
  • Strong desire for collaboration and a demonstrated ability to think creatively.

  • Deep knowledge of DC plans, lifetime income product types and competitor landscape.
  • An agile mindset and the ability to demonstrate results in a start-up environment.
  • Compelling presentation skills.
  • Finance background, with an ability to create proof of concept, create business cases, and understand pricing and profitability
  • Desire to stay up-to-date with DCLI industry trends, emerging technologies and regulatory changes that impact the insurance landscape.
  • Experience with retirement plan advisors, consultants, plan sponsors and plan administrators.
  • Current participation in industry organizations (e.g,. DCIIA, ALI, etc.)
  • Ability to travel 15-25% of the time.

Base Pay Range :

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location.

Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$159,660.00 - $195,140.00
