Summary
The HVAC Technician II is responsible to perform skilled installation, maintenance and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation systems while using hand tools and power tools as well as general maintenance and repair of facility areas, cleaning and safety of all guest and employee areas as well as parking lot, grounds and adjacent lots to include any off-property site used by the company.
This position supports operations in ensuring use-ready and compliant facilities and utilities, including troubleshooting, completion of preventive maintenance, and the completion of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) related documentation.
The HVAC Technician II provides feedback and recommendations to management on relevant topics including the planning of maintenance work, project management tasks, and the investigation and resolution of unusual situations.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Perform, as part of a team, a wide variety of tasks to maintain facility in a best in class for guest experience. Interface with customers, vendors, and team members in support of facility initiatives, work request completion, or other duties as assigned in a professional and team-oriented manner.
- Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Utilize positive communication and interpersonal skills with guests, (internal and external), at all times.
- Interpret specifications in blueprints, sketches, building plans, or wire diagrams to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Assist the Facilities department in the maintenance, repair, cleaning, and safety of all guest and employee areas as well as parking lot, grounds, and adjacent lots to include any off-property site used by the company.
- Understand the field’s concept practices and procedures.
- Ability to operate, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain all physical plant equipment in compliance with all manufacturer and Department policies and procedures.
- Performs technical maintenance and repairs of plumbing and piping systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing piping systems, and / or performing modifications to plumbing and hydronic systems;
assists or directs licensed plumbing / mechanical contractors, as required.
- Performs troubleshooting, including basic electrical or instrumentation troubleshooting of equipment that is not performing to standards and makes necessary repairs to get optimum performance from equipment
- Assists in performance of routine, unscheduled, and preventative maintenance and modification jobs on all site utility systems.
- Ability to use expertise to monitor control panels, panel boards and adjust controls, valves and pumps manually or by remote control to regulate flow, pressure levels and distribution.
- Knowledge of low-pressure boilers, chilled water production units, compressors, turbines, generating units and water systems.
- Installation of HVAC units, including electronic and mechanical components.
- Installation of HVAC ductwork including flexible tubing and sheet metal construction.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC units including electronic and mechanical components.
- Install or repair fuel and water supply lines.
- Conserve, install and recycle CFC and HCFC (Chlorofluorocarbon family) refrigerants.
- Install or repair electrical connections to HVAC components.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions, as requested, to increase performance and knowledge.
- Assist in other positions as needed.
- Keep Supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events
- Must be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable work schedule in accordance with business demands, and maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.
Education / Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- An Associate of Applied Science or Certificate of Applied Science Degree in Air Conditioning Technology from an accredited college or Trade school may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
- Minimum 3-4 years of journey-level experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial equipment for heating, ventilation, cooling (HVAC / chiller / boiler), and package units.
- Working knowledge of refrigerants and refrigerant recovery.
- Intermediate understanding of construction, National Electric Code, Federal and State Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards is required.
- Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational / experience requirements indicated above.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
- Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.
Certificates, licenses and registration
- Must possess a California Driver’s License and a clean driving record (less than 3 points).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
- Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and / or alcohol testing.
- Must have Universal EPA technician certification per Environmental Protection Agency, Rule 608 of the Clean Air Act.
