HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
In the Office of the Registrar, the Information Systems Training Specialist will serve as a member of the Registration and Compliance team.
This position is essential to the course registration functions and the planning, designing, project management, and implementation of innovative technical solutions to further the service mission of the Office of the Registrar, as well as the Georgia State University Community on these solutions and relevant policies and procedures.
The job responsibilities, level of decision-making, and degree of independence for this position have changed. The incumbent must have experience in training, advanced knowledge and skills in course registration functions, web content management, digital media, computer literacy with database familiarity, and considerable knowledge of university policies and procedures.
In addition, the incumbent must exercise sound judgment, think strategically, and work collaboratively with the Office of Instructional Innovation and Technology, faculty, staff, and students.
The scope of responsibility will include these specific duties but is not limited to :
- Monitors faculty registration adjustment requests and student class audit requests submitted through a workflow application;
- notifies college and department administrators of any overdue requests and ensures all requests are finalized by the established deadlines;
and reviews exceptional course registration requests (post-deadline add / drop / withdrawal requests, Military Withdrawals, Emergency Withdrawals, and Schedule Reinstatements) and completes the requests within policy guidelines.
- Designs training materials and provides training to students, faculty, and staff using a variety of training methods (virtual classrooms, digital media, face-to-face, etc.
- regarding the registration functions, roll verification, and other enrollment management policies and procedures; consults with staff and faculty on training needs and formats;
and schedules follow-up training sessions as needed.
- Serves as liaison between end-users and the Office of Instructional Innovation and Technology; troubleshoots issues; and assists with diagnosing technical issues and resolving problems.
- Evaluates, tests, and documents new or modified functionality of the Banner Student Information and Workflow applications when patches or upgrades are applied to the software;
and maintains operations and user documentation as system modifications are implemented.
Assigns security permissions to Banner Workflow and Banner Registration according to the user’s job responsibilities; deactivates or limits security permissions when necessary;
and performs periodic user access reviews to reduce the risk of security breaches and to protect critical data and resources.
- Maintains and edits the web content on the Registrar’s website regarding course registration and the semester calendars and acts as a viable backup to assist with editing the university catalogs.
- Creates reports and dashboards, using SQL queries or web-based reporting tools, to monitor productivity, accuracy, and trends.

Minimum Hiring Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
