Job Summary :
The Strategic Sourcing Manager for the OR Category is responsible for leading the sourcing and procurement strategies for Operating Room supplies and equipment within the healthcare organization.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry, and the ability to manage supplier relationships to ensure the highest quality and cost-effectiveness.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will work closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that the OR is supplied with the necessary materials to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Sourcing :
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for OR supplies and equipment, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the OR category.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery, and quality.
Supplier Management :
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring they meet performance standards and contractual obligations.
- Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvement plans as needed.
- Conduct regular business reviews with suppliers to discuss performance, innovation, and strategic alignment.
Cost Management :
- Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service levels.
- Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) for OR supplies and equipment, identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Collaborate with finance and clinical teams to develop and manage the OR category budget.
Stakeholder Engagement :
- Work closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure alignment with sourcing strategies.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on sourcing initiatives, supplier performance, and market trends.
- Facilitate cross-functional teams to drive sourcing projects and initiatives.
Compliance and Risk Management :
- Ensure all sourcing activities comply with organizational policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain, including disruptions, compliance issues, and supplier insolvency.
- Develop contingency plans to manage potential supply chain disruptions.
Continuous Improvement :
- Continuously evaluate and improve sourcing processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting the OR category.
- Drive innovation and process improvement initiatives within the sourcing function.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the healthcare industry.
- In-depth knowledge of OR supplies and equipment, including market trends, suppliers, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, such as ERP systems and e-sourcing platforms.
- Certification in supply chain management or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.
