As an Applications Engineer / Estimator you will be responsible to work with Sales, Engineering, and the Customer to determine the solution to their needs.
You will then be responsible for developing the costs associated with the solution, preparing the quote letter and all bid documents for management review.
After the project is won, you will need to communicate to Program Management the scope of the project. This role is based in Wixom Michigan and will require the person to be onsite.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop service solutions based on your knowledge and experience with automation, and standard service products.
- Manage proposal development including writing of detailed service proposals leveraging standard service product library.
- Work with Program Managers as to the scope of the equipment purchased.
- Work with Sales, Engineering, Customers, and Supply Chain to develop a solution for the customers' requirements.
- Prepare costs for service solutions and related options, following governance and approval processes.
- Involve appropriate engineering, management, and other technical resources in service concept and cost development as required.
- Involve third party vendors and suppliers in the quoting process, where necessary.
travel to customer sites in and Canada to assist in service assessments, solution or service product development.
- Provide input to account capture teams and assist with executing sales strategies.
- Develop customer relationships, representing service and technical capabilities to the customer.
- Provide sales presentations to customer personnel when required.
- Support special projects for services, engineering, and sales & marketing, as required.
- Seek areas for team engagement both within and outside of the development team.
- Proactively pursue opportunities for skill enhancement and professional development, keeping abreast of innovative solutions and industry best practices.
Share knowledge gained and lessons learned with the team.
- Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures and attend all required training.
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Code of Business Conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, mechatronics, engineering, or equivalent with a focus on Machine Design, Controls, and Robotics.
- A minimum of years' experience in mechanical or controls engineering support, purchasing, and pervious quoting / applications experience.
- Must have a working knowledge of AutoCad, Solidworks, Machines, Conveyors, Robots, Leak Testing, and be able to keep abreast of leading edge technology.
- In addition, must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication ability. Capable of articulating ideas clearly, writing well organized and maintainable documentation, and leading team discussions.
- Push the envelope by learning and driving team adoption of modern technologies and methodologies.
