JOB SUMMARY

As the Store Lead, you are self-driven and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment, while consistently demonstrating servant leadership towards all team members.

Your primary responsibility is to cultivate a positive atmosphere that offers fast, efficient, and friendly services. As a Store Lead, you will facilitate training, customer service, product knowledge, and education, promoting safe work practices, and showcasing a strong dedication to Black Rock Coffee Bar’s values, policies, and procedures.

You will oversee the day-to-day operations and lead by example, setting the tone for the success of each team member and location you oversee.

STORE LEAD ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the store's daily operations as part of the overall Store Lead duties and responsibilities to take extreme ownership in the successful store operations with a focus on Sales, People, Operations, and Cost Balancing (SPOC).
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead, communicate, and champion Black Rock Coffee Bar’s values, policies, and procedures.
  • Establishes effective and positive communication amongst all team members through various channels
  • Leads in planning and executing sales promotions effectively as assigned by the Marketing department.
  • Promotes and ensures safe work practices, reporting incidents and accidents to the Multi-Store Lead and HR promptly.
  • Takes ownership of hiring, onboarding, and training processes.
  • Consistently monitors, coaches, and encourages team members to meet Black Rock’s service standards and performance expectations, issuing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintains adequate shift coverage as the active leader on shift, including arranging for shift coverage in the case of unexpected absences and ensure team members adhere to meal and rest period policies by state requirements.
  • Responsible for the creation and timely publication of store schedule, ensuring team members adhere to Black Rocks availability and time request off protocol.
  • Leads in daily off-bar duties, ensuring the timely completion of relevant leadership task checklists, including approving timecards, money management, Nexonia submission etc.
  • Plans and facilitates quarterly store meetings and 1 : 1 reviews with team members.
  • Organizes quarterly team outings to boost store morale and recognition.
  • Attends all leadership meetings, often occurring on a biweekly and / or monthly basis depending on region requirements.
  • Takes proactive measures in troubleshooting equipment, addressing team member concerns, and resolving any other issues that may arise.
  • Works a minimum of 32 hours on the bar per week.

BARISTA ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Immediately and warmly welcomes customers and team members, ensuring a positive, welcoming, and engaging environment.
  • Abides by service speed requirements without compromising beverage quality or customer service, including third-party orders.
  • Prepares and serves coffee and coffee-less beverages and food items using retail equipment, such as espresso machines and convection ovens.
  • Maintains clean and organized work and customer areas, following health and safety guidelines.
  • Promotes new coffee offerings and seasonal specials to enhance brand awareness and sales.
  • Handles accurate cash and credit transactions, including daily cash deposits when required.
  • Supports training initiatives and mentors new team members during their onboarding process.
  • Manages daily, weekly, and monthly tasks assigned by the leadership team.
  • Handles customer complaints and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
  • Assists in inventory management and restocks supplies as needed, including product displays.
  • Conducts line busting during peak periods to expedite customer orders, which may require exposure to various elements.
  • Proficient at working independently during shifts with self-directed initiative and minimal supervision.
  • Always follows Black Rock Coffee Bar’s policies and procedures diligently.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.

  • Must have been employed at Black Rock Coffee Bar for at least 6 months, unless otherwise approved. by the Area Manager and Human Resources department.
  • Practices basic safety procedures with respect to handline hot equipment and beverages.
  • Takes pride in maintaining a clean working environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant standing and walking for up to 8 hours to perform job duties.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling may be required.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of ladders and ramps to access elevated areas.
  • Frequent wrist and spine movement during beverage preparation and tasks.
  • Constantly receives and exchanges detailed information through oral communication.
  • Maintains clear vision for reading orders and interacting with customers.
  • Demonstrates precise mental math skills for both following recipes and conducting accurate cash transactions.
