As a Freelance Journalist, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting news articles for publication in Decrypt.

You will work closely with an assigning editor to produce content that aligns with our standards and engages our readers.

This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to one of the most trusted and fastest growing news brands in crypto and Web3.

Ideal candidates are seasoned journalists with a deep understanding of the crypto and Web3 landscape and a passion for breaking news and telling thought-provoking stories.

Key Responsibilities :

• Content Creation : Research and write compelling news stories on a wide range of topics in the cryptocurrency, Web3, and emerging tech space.
• Pitching Ideas : Develop and pitch story ideas to the editorial team, demonstrating an understanding of current news trends and audience interests.
• Deadlines : Meet deadlines consistently while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
• Collaboration : Work closely with editors to revise and refine articles, incorporating feedback and making necessary revisions.
• Ethics : Adhere to journalistic ethics and standards, including fact-checking and sourcing information responsibly.
• Adaptability : Be responsive to news developments and willing to cover breaking news as needed.

Qualifications :

Experience : At least 1 year of experience in journalism, preferably with experience in crypto media.

Skills :

• Strong writing and storytelling abilities.
• Excellent research and interviewing skills.
• Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging articles.
• Familiarity with AP style and other journalistic writing standards.
• Proficiency with digital tools and platforms for content creation and publication.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Crypto native : You live and breathe crypto and are eager to learn more.
• Early adopter : You use the platforms, protocols, and other technology that you write about.
• Self-starter : You keep your finger on the pulse and are always ready with a pitch.
• Subject-matter expertise : You have experience reporting on specific beats such as crypto markets, culture, gaming, DeFi, or regulation and have relevant sources at the ready.
