The NP Clinical Faculty oversees the clinical teaching of students with qualified preceptors and interfaces closely with preceptors to assure appropriate clinical experiences for students.
The NP Clinical Faculty must have educational preparation or extensive clinical experience in the content in which they will be providing clinical supervision.
The NP Clinical Faculty should have at least one year or more of clinical experience and must demonstrate competence in clinical practice and teaching.
Job Duties :
Meet with the Faculty of Record (FOR) to review the syllabus and course expectations. Support the preceptor in guiding the student’s clinical experiences.
Be readily available for problem-solving and consultation through telephone and / or email communication. Review a selection of clinical notes and provide feedback to the student.
Assume overall responsibility for reporting the student’s clinical performance to the FOR. Monitor the student’s hours and documentation in Typhon.
Facilitate appropriate learning experiences based on learning objectives and course content. Maintain continued communication with students.
Facilitate, monitor and evaluate student learning through periodic conferences with the student and the FOR. Minimum Qualifications : MSN required, doctorate preferred, with one or more years of NP clinical practice experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities in specialty setting.
An applicant for NP Clinical Faculty must be practicing either full-time or part-time as a Nurse Practitioner. Previous experience as an NP clinical instructor or preceptor preferred.
Hold a current, active, unrestricted license as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan. Hold a current certification in advanced nursing practice that aligns with the student population being supervised in the clinical setting (i.
e. FNP. AGPCNP, AGACNP, etc.). Have a clean criminal background check and urine drug screen and must be able to meet all health requirements as stipulated by the clinical agencies.
