The Vocational Nursing (VN) Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction to students that meet the program and course objectives.
The VN Instructor should maintain an organized, disciplined classroom environment that is conducive to learning and imparts the requirements of the relevant workplace setting to existing students.

- Understanding of education environments including needs of adult learners
- Ability to provide a positive and effective learning environment
- Knowledge and understanding of professional career paths for which students are enrolled
- Motivation, dedication and enthusiasm for teaching
- Good Organization and Communication Skills
Credentials and Experience :
- An Associate's degree or higher in a related area of study (ACCSC)
- 5 years of healthcare related professional experience to include a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a RN or VN within the last 5 years.
- Shall have completed or be currently attending a course offered by an approved program to certify competency in teaching adult learners.
- Current CA license as RN or VN - must be in good standing
- At least one or more of the following (BVNPT requirement) : Baccalaureate degree from accredited school orValid Teaching Credential, orCompletion of 1 year full-time teaching experience in state accredited or approved RN, VN within last 5 years, orMeets CA community college or state university teaching requirementsAssociates degree plus 6 years of experience or, Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience
- Completion of 24-hour Principle of Teaching the Adult Learner Course OR Teaching / Learning college course credits
