About the Position :

Here at the Oklahoma Forensic Center the Recreation department is hiring for Recreation Therapists that would be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and conducting client therapy programs and instructing or supervise clients in an inpatient behavioral health facility.

Job Type / Salary :

  • Hourly payrate : Level II- $19.47, Level I- $18.26
  • Primary Working Hours are 8 : 00am-4 : 30pm
  • FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
  • Primary Work Location / Department : Oklahoma Forensic Center / Recreation Department
  • Vacancies : Multiple

Minimum Qualifications and Experience :

Level II-Master’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation or physical education; or a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation or physical education and one year of experience in recreational therapy;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Level I- Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation, physical education or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements :

  • May be required to work occasional weekends.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass an OSBI background check.

About us :

The Oklahoma Forensic Center encompasses a 24 hour / 365 day secure inpatient forensic facility, forensic step-down unit (TRC) and jail competency services for the State of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita employs around 260 individuals and has approximately 216 consumers whom have been found incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity.

Transitions Recovery Center (TRC) also in Vinita, is a secure 52-bed forensic step-down unit.

Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Pre-placement Testing : Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs.

Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.

THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY.
