Position Title : SUPPLY CHAIN OPERATIONS TEAM LEADER
Position Summary : Oversees the day-to-day operations of the supply chain, ensuring smooth flow of goods from suppliers to customers by managing inventory levels, coordinating logistics, monitoring performance metrics, and leading a team of warehouse and distribution personnel to achieve efficient and cost-effective operations while meeting delivery deadlines and customer demands.
Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities for all incoming goods and transportation operations.
Reports To : Director of Supply Chain
Personnel : Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Control Personnel
Accountabilities : Oversees all shipping and receiving related matters to ensure cost effectiveness while meeting all state and federal law requirements associated with transportation.
Interacts with company's assigned customs broker by providing shipment details, necessary documentation, and coordinating customs clearance processes, essentially acting as the primary point of contact for all customs-related matters.
Accountable for supplying all production areas with material needed. The Team Leader will be held accountable for inventory accuracy of material and supplies in stores.
Lead, motivate, and support a team to achieve company goals. Develop and implement operational strategies and procedures.
Monitor supply chain performance and implement necessary changes. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
Maintain a working knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and technologies. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
Collaborate with management to set budgets and implement cost-saving strategies. Address and resolve team conflicts and issues.
Train new team members and arrange for ongoing training for existing staff. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
Authorities :
The Team Leader assigns personnel to their tasks and approves overtime. Manage department budget and spending per company policy.
The Team Leader evaluates training opportunities to support career growth for both individuals and the entire team.
Duties :
- Directs and coordinates, daily activities of shipping, receiving, and inventory control departments.
- Confers and cooperates with management and others in formulating and implementing administrative, operational, policies and procedures.
- Enforces compliance of personnel with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
- Reviews transportation schedules, work assignments to ensure timely workflow.
- Recommends expenditures meant to increase efficiency and services of shipping and receiving department.
- Oversees process of investigation and response to non-conformances relating to department.
- Oversees receiving process, ensuring that incoming product conform to purchase order and technical specification requirements, and that they are scanned / received in the allocated timeframe.
- Works closely with quality department assure quality requirements are met prior to receiving and shipping .
- Research and audits of transportation service providers.
- Consults workers regarding packing procedures and inspects packed or crated goods for conformance to shipping specifications to prevent damage, delay, or penalties.
- Works closely with the production control team to ensure accurate priorities are set for all incoming, outgoing, and intercompany material movement.
Job Qualification Requirements :
Educational Experience - Bachelor's Degree in fields such as Business Administration, Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience - Three or more years of experience in a leadership role required. Relevant work experience in supply chain management, logistics, or operations is required.
Physical Demands - The employee is required to :
- stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor
- exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or
- exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or
- exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Certification Required - CPIM certification or equivalent required
Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery.
Hearing Ability - Ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
Working Conditions - The employee is subject to :
- high noise levels from operating machines
- physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
- breathing fumes, dust and mist
- skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
