The Role :
Work as a member of the gas acquisition team to schedule, procure and manage company and third party gas supplies, transportation, and storage.
Successful applicant must develop into Gas Buyer 3 position which includes increased responsibility for term gas purchases, derivatives, optimization and other related tasks.
Day to Day :
- Perform accurate and timely scheduling of Company gas supplies within interstate pipeline timelines and regulations to assure contract, FERC and NEB compliance.
- Coordinate scheduling of third party gas being transported to Company’s distribution system and for Mist interstate storage service volumes being transported to and from the Company’s distribution system.
- Coordinate daily gas supply activities with Gas Controllers.
- Negotiate and purchase short term natural gas supplies.
- Assist with portfolio optimization and related functions to minimize gas acquisition and transportation costs while meeting the Company’s needs.
- Maintain and operate Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) software and other gas supply applications.
- Develop and maintain models to forecast natural gas demand for use in gas supply planning.
- Assist in the gas supply contract management function.
- Act as a resource to others including Middle Office and accounting.
- Supports Company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
Come on your first day with :
- A minimum of 5 years prior experience in the natural gas industry with understanding of gas supply operations including gas acquisition and / or pipeline operations.
- Typical knowledge and skills required for this position could be found in an individual whose previous job assignments offered experience in market analysis, deal structuring, utility planning, ratemaking, or fuel procurement / transportation scheduling.
Other combinations of education / experience may be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, engineering or related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires working understanding of natural gas supply and transportation practices, the utility industry, U.S. and Canadian natural gas regulations and utility contracting principles.
- Requires the ability to interpret real-time data or information and the ability to make quick decisions that have significant operational and monetary consequences.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- PC skills including spreadsheet, database, word processing, SharePoint and presentation applications to compile, maintain, and present information.
This includes the ability to learn Company proprietary applications.
- Must be able to work early shift beginning as early as 5 : 30 a.m., remote evening availability, weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule within a team, as well as work non-traditional business hours as dictated by operational conditions under all weather conditions.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are required.

Base salary range : $93,100.00 - $132,650.00 per year, depending on qualifications Annual Target Incentive : Level 2 , 9.5% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% 200% of target.
Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
