Job Title : Orbital Welder

Pay : $23 / hr-$27 / hr

Shift : 6am-2 : 30pm

Job Description

Work under normal to moderate supervision. Perform basic set-ups and operate orbital weld systems. Perform mechanical set-ups and changeovers for Swagelok welding machines.

Operate orbital welding equipment and systems in a safe manner. Keep work areas clean and organized, and follow safety guidelines.

Prioritize work and execute to meet production schedules and commitments in accordance with the direction of leads and supervisors.

Work from schedules, shop orders, established procedures, blueprints, and product specifications. Fit, align, and precisely orbital weld products to meet or exceed product / customer requirements, specifications, and workmanship standards.

Report deviations that can potentially interrupt productivity. Maintain logs and other necessary documents. May train less skilled technicians and operators.

Measure and verify dimensions using inspection tooling. Complete routing and process planning as necessary. Demonstrate the ability to process and inspect the first piece in accordance with prints.

Collaborate with Engineering to develop advanced welding processes as needed. Assist team members to maintain departmental standards including quality goals and on-time delivery goals.

Essential Skills

• Experience with blueprint reading.
• Experience with orbital welding and machine operating.
• Ability to fabricate and perform precision measuring.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings, correspondence, and documents.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals.
• Ability to read testing and measuring instruments, record test results, and write related reports.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, and peers.
• Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practices.
• Basic understanding of related mechanics, flow control elements, and MRP concepts.
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Understanding of calipers, tolerance, stainless vs. aluminum, fractions, units of measure - inches / metric, vacuum purge welders.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
