In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the compliance function within the Digicel Group.
Overall, the role involves creating, implementing and / or enabling policies, procedures, controls and practices that are geared towards effectively preventing, detecting and responding to ethics and compliance risks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities :
- Under the supervision of the Chief Compliance & Cybersecurity Officer (CCCO), design, implement and manage an effective compliance program to prevent, detect and respond to potential violations of law, regulation, or company policies.
- Oversee or conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify, prioritize and help mitigate ethics and compliance risks.
- Review, update, create and / or implement relevant policies and procedures outlining applicable regulatory requirements, guidance, and ethical standards.
- Ensure that changes to law or regulation are reflected in policies and procedures.
- Review, update, create and provide training and communications to raise awareness about applicable regulatory requirements, policies, guidelines and ethical standards.
- Coordinate and work with business on corrective actions resulting from audits, risk assessments, or raised concerns.
- Provide legal and regulatory advice to senior executives and stakeholders on compliance ethics and compliance matters affecting the company.
- Monitor and interpret the legislation, guidance and industry standards applicable to the company.
- Analyze the impact of legislative changes on the Group’s operations and services.
- Help facilitate a culture where employees feel empowered to raise ethics and compliance concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Conduct internal investigations related to ethics and compliance matters.
- Establish and maintain monitoring systems to track and report on compliance issues. Prepare regular reports for senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Communicate compliance expectations to employees, executives, and the Board of Directors. Provide regular updates on compliance initiatives and performance.
- Build positive working relationships with other key control functions and business leadership.
- Ensure that new products or processes and changes to products and processes are done in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Oversee and manage regulatory exams and audits.
- Other tasks as deemed appropriate by CCCO.
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required :
- At a minimum : bachelor’s degree. Preferred : post graduate degree (e.g. MA, MS, MBA) or law degree (LLB, LLM or JD).
- A minimum 10 years experience in law, compliance, internal audit or governance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a wide variety of stakeholders in a multilingual, international environment.
- A proactive and highly organised approach to managing multiple and competing priorities within a fast-paced working environment, maintaining attention to detail within strict deadlines.
- A confident yet diplomatic approach exhibiting strong professionalism at all times with colleagues and externally.
- Advanced negotiation and conflict management skills.
