Our client is a versatile engineering technology corporation providing Construction Materials Evaluation and Technical Support Services to owners and professionals involved in building and infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance.

With licensed engineers and certified technicians, they specialize in geotechnical engineering, construction materials evaluation (field and laboratory), geological sciences, subsurface exploration, and investigative engineering.

Summary

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer manages projects, prepares reports, writes specifications, designs foundations, performs geotechnical calculations, and mentors junior geotechnical staff.

Location : Ideally the candidate will reside in Syracuse , where the majority of the projects are. However, it is possible to be located in another upstate New York city with occasional visit to Syracuse.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Lead and execute geotechnical project assignments, including complex engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration, and laboratory analysis.
  • Ensure loss prevention and liability limitation on geotechnical assignments.
  • Mentor Geotechnical and Staff Engineers.
  • Evaluate ground conditions and their impact on design and construction.
  • Design shallow and deep foundations and conduct slope stability analysis.
  • Perform deep foundation analysis for various types of piles.
  • Design shoring and bracing systems, tieback anchors, retaining walls, etc.
  • Conduct seismic studies such as site class determination and liquefaction analysis.
  • Perform group pile analysis, soil-pile interaction study, and lateral load behavior analysis.
  • Develop and manage geotechnical laboratory testing programs.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Master of Science or PhD in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
  • 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in vertical construction and liability limitation.
  • Ability to interact with clients and design teams.
  • Proficient in project management, meeting business goals.
  • Strong background in soil mechanics, geotechnical analysis, and laboratory testing.

Compensation : $100,000 - $150,000 annually
