- Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or Music Performance
- Master's Degree preferred
- Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment EC-12 Music
- Minimum of 1 year of Full-time teaching experience preferred
- Effective oral and written communications skills, including the ability to use social media effectively
- Demonstrated proficiency on both keyboard and battery percussion instruments
- Ability to interact appropriately with the public, District staff, and parents
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues on the campus and in the instructional feeder pattern
- Ability to market the instructional program
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting / carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials.
The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms;
and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties.
May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
Additional Information
- Employee must hold valid Texas Driver’s License, be able to provide reliable transportation to all assigned locations while serving as an itinerant, and operate box trucks to haul equipment to / from rehearsal or performance sites.
- Regular moderate lifting, moving, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent exposure to noise and loud music
- Some out-of-town travel and / or travel by school bus
