About the Role :

We are looking for a motivated and creative Mechanical / Design Engineer to join our team in Canning Vale, WA. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and drawing vehicle motor bodies, ranging from light-duty to heavy-duty vehicles.

The ideal candidate will be proactive with a keen eye for detail, and capable of conceptualising and designing solutions that meet customer requirements while adhering to relevant engineering standards.

Please note that hands-on experience in the automotive industry is essential for this role

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and develop conceptual layouts that align with customer ideas while ensuring compliance with ADRs, NHVRs, and Australian Design Standards.
  • Conduct cost analysis to support the Sales Team in creating optimised and effective designs.
  • Migrate legacy AutoCAD designs to 3D SolidWorks and prepare drawings / BOMs for fabrication requirements.
  • Design and create CNC nesting drawings to optimise material utilisation.
  • Assist in developing fabrication processes by understanding mechanical components, systems, and material tolerances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively communicate design concepts.
  • Maintain fundamental knowledge of trade standards.

About You :

  • Hold a Mechanical Engineering Degree or have equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in the Automotive or Trucking industry will be highly regarded.
  • Practical manufacturing experience will be highly regarded.
  • Proficient in Drafting Design with expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, MS Office and / or similar platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, meet project deadlines and guide others in the team.
  • Solid understanding of laser cutting, nesting, and welding techniques.
  • A creative thinker who can approach challenges with a think outside the box’ mindset.
