POSITION GOAL : The HR Generalist is responsible for recommending, developing, and administeringhuman resources policies in the areas of recruitment, separation, employee relations,disability and leave management, benefits, classification, compensation, performancemanagement, training, administrative tasks and project management.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / FUNCTIONS / TASKS : The HR Generalist is responsible for recommending, developing, and administeringhuman resources policies in the areas of recruitment, separation, employee relations,disability and leave management, benefits, classification, compensation, performancemanagement, training, and project management.
- Administers policies and programs in the areas of recruitment, separation,employee relations, disability and leave management, benefits, classification,compensation, performance management, training, and other areas of humanresources.
- Manages, develops, and evaluates staff recruitments and separations,including mass hires.? Prepares and processes all necessary hiring paperwork in a timely manner.
Prepares job postings, reviews applications and interviews applicants. Makesrecommendations for a wide range of positions.
- Counsels department managers and supervisors on employee relationspolicies, procedures, and appropriate practices.? Works with employees to resolve sensitive or difficult work-related problems.
- Applies professional HR concepts when counseling employees concerningwork-related issues of moderate scope and complexity.
- Serves as the leave of absence administrator to ensure compliance with allpolicies and guidelines.? Conducts new employee orientation.
- Provides guidance to supervisors and managers in developing jobdescriptions, facilitating benefits communications, and providing guidance oncompensation programs, personnel policies, and procedures.
- Counsels and guides supervisors and managers in performance management,including annual performance review. Manages and develops the process forperformance evaluation.
- Manages sensitive and confidential information and effectively andcollaboratively interacts with client groups.Qualifications?
Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required; Master's degree preferred.? PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred.
- Three plus years human resources generalist experience required;management experience a plus.? Experience working as a human resources professional with thoroughknowledge of human resources and policies and procedures, employmentpractices, salary administration, training and has working knowledge of otherareas of HR.
- Strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations,demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing andin integrating information in the completion of assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations / individualseffectively.? Demonstrates skill in prioritizing competing work assignments, employingpolitical acumen and integrating information to determine appropriate coursesof action and their implications.
- Possesses strong analytical, active listening and critical thinking skills.? Ability to work independently and analyze data to solve complex problemsand demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be able to handle sensitive personnel issues with confidentiality, tact,and discretion.? Must possess strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicateeffectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students.
