Academic responsibilities include teaching family medicine residents and medical students, patient care and scholarly activity, and focusing on general adult psychiatry(forensic and geriatric and inpatient focus possible).

The Department of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry in the College of Community Health Sciences at the University of Alabama (UA) is excited to announce the availability an assistant or associate professor faculty position for full time non tenure earning clinical track.

Candidates must be Board Eligible / Board Certified in Neurology, meet requirements for an academic appointment at UA, and be eligible

for licensure in the state of Alabama. Faculty are responsible for teaching medical students and residents in clinical training, engaging in scholarly activity, providing direct patient care, and administrative tasks typical for a faculty appointment.

Minimum Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. and Board Eligible / Board Certified in Neurology required. Candidates must meet Alabama medical licensure requirements and complete licensure within the state prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference to candidates with both ambulatory and inpatient neurological treatment and track record of scholarship, focusing on learning and teaching in a health professions or medical school environment would be desirable.

Successful candidates will display a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to work in multidisciplinary and inter-professional teams and have excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
