Position Highlights : 9A Medical- Surgical
- Number of beds on unit : 24 private beds
- Patient population : Medical-surgical, serving patients admitted for illness, surgery, testing for various diagnoses. Patients typically above 17 years of age.
- Nurse to Patient ratio : 1 : 5 (occasionally 1 : 6)
- Department culture and resources : Fast-paced unit with medically complex patients. Focus on teamwork, communication, and employee growth opportunities.
- Frequent nursing skills / equipment used : Nursing assessments, medication administration, collaboration with multiple disciplines, hands-on skills such as IV insertion, wound care, and ostomy bag care.
BLS (within 30 days of hire).
Responsibilities :
- Complete initial assessment and develop appropriate plan of care
- Ensure patient and employee safety
- Communicate effectively with team members
- Complete and document basic RN patient care activities
- Provide patient medications utilizing the patient 5 Rights
- Promote patient safety and a positive work environment
- Use critical thinking to evaluate the overall patient condition
- Effectively communicate within the healthcare team
