The Grounds Laborer Maintenance maintains grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds, greenhouses, and athletic fields, and repairs structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks : cutting grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.
- trimming hedges and edging around walks, flowerbeds and wells using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools; pruning shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth using shears and other hand tools;
- and, spraying lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer and insecticide. Job duties also include the following : planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods using a hose or activating sprinkler system;
- picking up and burning or carting away leaves, paper, or other litter; removing snow from walks, driveways, roads or parking lots using shovel and snowblower;
spreading salt on walkways and other areas; and, repairing and painting fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
This worker assists in the repair of road walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment and may clean comfort stations, offices, workshops areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing (WDR Summary 11210).
The key performance standards of this position are measured by the timely and accurate operation and adhering to all production schedules and standards within the Contract Statement of Work and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performs the day-to-day operations of the federal site grounds maintenance contract.
- Follows and applies all safety procedures to meet federal and company standards; halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment and assists in the activities of the safety committee by promptly reporting unsafe conditions to an immediate supervisor to include wearing all personal protection equipment for assigned function.
- Fosters an atmosphere that promotes Human Rights for all clients and ensures training, incident reporting of all personnel regarding Human Rights violations.
- Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake Policy.
- Ensures the correct operation of all equipment and hand tools assigned.
- Follows and conforms to established company standard operating procedures.
- Fosters teamwork while balancing team and individual responsibilities; gives feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance and models dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and professional personal appearance.
- Assists in managing department purchasing and budget by ensuring minimum waste of assigned equipment products and materials.
- Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.

Skills and Abilities :
- Three (3) months of experience in grounds maintenance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate credentials / background check as required by the contract.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to learn the proper use and operator maintenance of routine grounds maintenance equipment and hand tools.
- Valid and insurable drivers license required.
