SOS Personnel is URGENTLY seeking to hire an Education Consultant to provide consulting services for :
- teacher professional development
- and on-site coaching.
We are seeking professional development services for the 2024-2025 school year to address several high-priority areas identified through Professional Learning Communities and a Comprehensive Needs Assessment.
These priority areas include :
- Curriculum Mapping and Interdisciplinary Units : Development and implementation of curriculum maps using grade-level standards and the Writing Achievement Roadmap.
- High-Leverage Teaching Practices : Effective delivery of curriculum maps through high-leverage teaching practices tailored for secondary education.
- Instructional Planning in Block Schedules : Planning and delivering instruction within a block schedule using appropriate resources.
- Student Engagement and Motivation : Strategies to enhance student engagement and motivation.
- Literacy Across the Content Areas : Techniques for teaching reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across all subjects.
Objectives :
The consultants will provide the following services :
- Curriculum and Unit Maps : Professional development that results in curriculum and unit maps aligned with Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) standards and assessments as defined by the Navajo District.
- Writing Assessment Roadmap Training : Training on the use of the Writing Assessment Roadmap to inform curriculum maps and interdisciplinary units, aiming to increase proficiency on the BIE Summative assessment.
- High-Leverage Teaching Practices : Development and enhancement of teacher and educational technician efficacy through training, modeling, and supporting high leverage teaching practices for secondary education.
- Literacy Skills : improvement of instructional staff's skills in teaching literacy across content areas, encompassing reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Block Schedule Implementation : Assistance in implementing a block schedule with appropriate structures and evidence-based practices.
- Student Engagement.
Specified Tasks / Services
The consultant will be responsible for :
- Curriculum Mapping Templates
- Writing Assessment Roadmap Expertise
- Understanding of Navajo District Initiatives
- Collaboration with School Staff
Qualifications
The contractor must provide resumes that demonstrate :
- Experience : A minimum of 5 years of consultation experience in curriculum mapping and secondary instruction within the Navajo Nation.
- Preferred Employment History : At least five years as an employee (teacher or administrator) of a Bureau-operated or Tribally-controlled school.
- Secondary Education Expertise : Experience in secondary educational settings, with preferred certifications in ELA, Math, and / or Science.
- Assessment Knowledge : Demonstrated understanding of BIE Summative and Interim Assessments and their implications for curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Period of Performance
The contract period will run from July 2024 through June 2025, with the option for four additional years. The engagement involves :
- working 2 days per month for 10 months, totaling 20 days.
- in-person services provided on School campus.
