Summary
While performing instructional duties in support of students, teachers, and parents, the Title I Instructional Assistant works with students to reinforce reading and math skills to support Title I targeted assisted or schoolwide improvement programs to reach high academic standards.
The Title I Instructional Assistant is assigned the responsibility of assisting Title I students to ensure attaining and maintaining academic success.
Distinguishing Career Features
The Instruction Assistant II is the second-level career path for instructional support to teachers. Level II requires more advanced knowledge, skill, and ability to work with special student populations including but not limited to students who are economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, English learners, migrant students, students with disabilities, and homeless and foster youth.
Title I Instruction Assistants II are typically assigned to a range of environments assisting targeted students to help them meet challenging academic standards.
Physical Abilities
Requires the ability to perform in all indoor school building environments engaged in work of primarily a sedentary to moderately active nature.
Requires near visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speech ability for ordinary and telephonic conversation, speaking to groups, and hearing sound prompts from equipment.
Requires ambulatory ability to move about office, classroom / laboratory, and school grounds, to work with students in multiple locations, assist with presentations, and reach work materials.
Requires sufficient manual and finger dexterity to demonstrate teaching aids, point out important words / figures to students, and operate personal computers.
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and move supplies, fixtures, wheelchairs, etc., of light-to-medium weight (under 50 pounds) on a regular basis, and heavyweight (under 75 pounds) without labor
