Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 17,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 12th grade campuses.

The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Job Description :

We are seeking motivated individuals to join our summer team as Custodial Maintenance and Lawn Care Assistants. As part of our school district’s facilities team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities :

1) Assist custodial staff with daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting classrooms, restrooms, and common areas.

2) Perform lawn care duties such as mowing, edging, and maintaining outdoor spaces.

3) Help with minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.

4) Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working on school premises.

Qualifications :

1) Reliable and punctual.

2) Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

3) Basic knowledge of custodial and lawn care practices.

4) Willingness to learn and follow instructions.

5) Must be physically able to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Requirements :

1) Valid driver’s license (if required for lawn care duties).

2) Previous custodial or lawn care experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Schedule :

This is a seasonal position during the summer months (approximately number of weeks / months ).

Specify working hours, e.g., Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM .

Compensation :

Hourly wage $14.00 per hour
