Position Reports to : Club J Director
The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta is seeking an Assistant Director for Club J, its premier after-school program for grades pre-k through fifth.
The program has 200+ kids annually with 30+ part-time staff. The ideal candidate needs to be able to create, implement and manage an elementary aged after-school program.
The position requires energy, creativity, professionalism and willingness to work with a group of people towards the common goal of creating an outstanding after-school program.
Principle duties and responsibilities :
- Assist Director with daily administrative functions of Club J program
- Create and implement the daily curriculum and activities for each grade level of
the program; train staff on how to execute activities
- Prepare all classroom spaces prior to the start of the program daily
- Shop for supplies and organize daily activity bins
- Manage and print all necessary daily sheets, including schedules, group rosters, activity sheets and check-out sheet
- Manage the seasonal activity sheets to help ensure Club J children get to and from all extra-curricular activities
- Manage the check-out process to ensure policies and procedures are followed to keep children safe and families happy
- Manage the staffing grid to ensure each group is staffed correctly each day
- Assist in the hiring and interviewing of staff members
- Assist in managing staff hiring paperwork and collecting required documents for Bright from the Start
- Handle behavioral challenges and disciplinary procedures as needed
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with parents and all JCC staff
- Keep track of daily absences and mark bus and group rosters
- Take weekly inventory of Club J supplies that may include items such as extra clothes, medication and ice packs, crayons, books, etc.
- Manage the medical / health supplies for Club J Office and maintain medical logs
- Manage medicine dispersals and maintain accurate allergy logs
- Manage all illnesses and injuries and proper reporting to parents
Education & Certification :
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working with children, youth, or informal education (camp, youth group, etc.)

- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

- Familiarity with Bright From The Start procedures and policies preferred
