Description
The Test Lab Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of the test lab facilities, as well as standing up a new test lab at a new facility.
The main areas of responsibility include :
Lab Supervision
- Resolves disputes, Initiates timely and appropriate disciplinary action.
- Communicates and enforces company policies and procedures.
- Understands resource allocation and assigns appropriate resources to tasks.
- Creates and maintains metrics, goals and visual management systems that show on / off track.
- Cross-functionally communicates status at Tier, Planning and Revenue meetings.
- Manages the plan, schedules, and priorities to support EBAD financial and customer delivery.
- Manages facility operating costs to achieve profitability goals and understands variances.
- Ensures equipment is maintained, repaired, and calibrated and that critical spare parts are available.
- Evaluates people resources and creates hiring and training plans.
- Creates and executes capital plans that are on time, on budget and support business needs.
- Creates, maintains, and enforces department procedures.
Employee Development
- Sets clear goals and expectations.
- Understands capabilities of direct reports and creates plans that identify and address gaps.
- Identifies and provides appropriate growth and training opportunities.
- Communicates lessons learned.
Technical Leadership
- Collaborates with Engineering and provides guidance to resolve technical issues.
- Reviews and understands non-standard test requirements to ensure test safety and integrity.
- Formulates timely and meaningful root cause and corrective / preventive action.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement.
Requirements
Education : Associate or Bachelor Degree
Mechanical or Electrical engineering preferred).
Experience / Skills :
- Supervision of technical personnel in a test lab and / or manufacturing environment.
- Interpretation of requirements defined in customer, government and industry specifications.
- Creation of written procedures for equipment, product and / or facilities.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Effective problem solving and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of various data acquisition and measurement techniques.
- People management, including goals setting, gap assessment and talent development.
- Scheduling and prioritization of people and equipment resources.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and techniques
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience / Working Knowledge of the following Test Methods : Climatic Altitude / Vacuum, Humidity, Temp Shock, Temp CyclingDynamic - Vibration, Shock, Static Acceleration, DropElectrical Functional testing of electronic devices with Automated and Manual Electronic Support Equipment.
Data Acquisition Oscilloscopes, Thermocouples, Accelerometers, Transducers
