Your role and responsibilities

  • Owns the technical and market specification for the product and determines a product business plan that supports sustainable growth.
  • Leads life cycle management process, analyses current product, defines and tracks performance metrics, plans appropriate measures (e.

g. enhancements, cost reductions, phase-outs) and makes decisions on product obsolescence and end-of life to ensure current and future market requirements are met and maximize profitability.

  • Sets targets and monitors product costs, giving inputs to Operations (e.g. Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to maximize competitiveness and profitability.
  • Defines product customer value proposition per segment and channel and ensures clear communication to channels and users, to deliver clear product positioning within the portfolio with defined values per product line.
  • Ensures correct pricing is applied for all countries, products within relevant business area. Develops and maintains a global reference list price structure appropriate to both ABB internal product positioning strategy and competitor offerings and ensures this is developed and deployed to reflect the needs of individual markets.
  • Initiates and drives cross functional and cross-organization product and solution innovation teams, monitors development of all standards and market trends and provides inputs to Research & Development (R&D) for patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection.
  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed. Build an effective, capable and high performing organization.

Develop talent, appoint managers and review effectiveness.

Qualifications for the role

  • 4-year degree in engineering required or 4-year degree in Engineering (in Electrical (BSEE) preferred) with 10 plus years of experience in Product Management
  • Proven experience in product management, product marketing or adjacent product functional roles
  • Strategic thinking; able to analyze and manage complex business situations with strong analysis skills, problem-solving skills and communication skills
  • Strong team building and networking capability; assertiveness and ability to work in a virtual team and experience with customer relations via service, visits, relationships, etc.
  • Knowledge of ANSI / NEMA Products and Systems, focus on LV switchgear industrial & commercial market segments preferred;

knowledge of legacy GE / ABB products preferred

  • Proven intercultural competence and international experience / global mindset and unrestricted availability for international travel
  • Leadership and people management experience
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
