In keeping with the mission of the Ventura County Health Care Agency, our team of dedicated physicians, nurses and other health care professionals seek to set the standard in health care excellence.

As a member of the health care team, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for the nutrition assessment of patients. Dietitians develop and implement nutrition care plans and nutrition therapy and evaluate and adjust treatment as necessary.

In addition, incumbents may participate in the education of co-workers, including resident physicians and outpatient education at off-campus clinic sites.

APPROXIMATE SALARIESRegistered Dietitian II : $27.26 - $40.12 HourlyRegistered Dietitian III : $30.88 - $45.45 HourlyWHAT WE OFFERThe County of Ventura offers an attractive compensation and benefits package.

In addition to the annual salary an employee within these positions may also be eligible for the following : Bilingual Incentive - Incumbents may be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational needs and certification of skill.

Educational Incentive - Incumbents may also be eligible for an educational incentive of 2.5% for completion of an associate degree, 3.

5% for completion of a bachelor’s degree, or 5% for completion of a graduate degree for educational attainments not specifically required by the position.

Market-Based Premium Pay - Registered Dietitians assigned to Ambulatory Care who hold and use a Certified Diabetic Education certification may be eligible for $2.

50 market-based premium pay.Annual Leave - 208 hours per year, increasing to 288 hours after 5 years of service.Deferred Compensation - Eligible to participate in the County's 401(k) Shared Savings Plan and / or the Section 457 Plan.

This position is eligible for up to a 3% match on your 401(k) contributions.Health Plans - Full-time employees are afforded a flexible credit allowance for purchasing medical, dental, and / or vision insurance from a group of authorized plans.

Flexible Spending Accounts - Choice of participation in the Flexible Spending Accounts which increase spending power through reimbursement of pre-tax dollars for IRS approved dependent care and health care expenses.

Pension Plan - Both the County and employees contribute to the County's Retirement Plan and to Social Security. If eligible, reciprocity may be established with other public retirement systems, such as PERS.

  • TENTATIVE SCHEDULEOPENING DATE : June 14, 2024CLOSING DATE : June 28, 2024Examples Of DutiesDuties may include but are not limited to the following : Conducts assessment of patient’s nutritional risk status utilizing patient medical diagnosis, patient medical history, social determinants of health and other clinical information related to patient care;
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary care teams, participates in interdisciplinary patientcare conferences and provides recommendations regarding diet order and patient education goals based on patient's plan of care;
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy, nutritional counseling and education according to the Nutrition Care Process, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Determines individual diagnosis and develops individualized intervention and care plans;Develops, evaluates, and updates education materials and education program curriculum appropriate to the needs of the clinic and its patient population;
  • ensures that teaching materials reflect the treatment standards established by evidence-based guidelines;Provides nutrition education to patients through individual in-person consults, group classes, or telehealth;

Ensures correct and timely documentation and billing in the patient’s electronic medical record;Leads health education / nutritional programs to address chronic care management needs of high-risk patients, including patients diagnosed with diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, obesity, etc.

  • Follows Ambulatory Care department’s guidelines, procedures, and protocols for patient care and service quality;Assumes responsibility for on-going professional development in field;
  • Monitors and evaluates nutritional status and health goals, including self-management goals of patients;Attends meetings as requested;
  • Refers patients to both internal and external services and programs when appropriate;May provide discipline-specific input for development, approval, implementation, and annual revisions of Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP Nutrition and / or Health Education protocols;

Participates in community outreach and education events as needed;If Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), follows standards for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), Diabetes Self-Management, and may provide education and training on various diabetes medications, including oral medications, insulin, and non-insulin injectables.

Under standing orders and protocol, CDEs may make adjustments to Diabetes medication or insulin for patients; andPerforms other related duties as required.

develop and / or evaluate menus, and prepare special reports.Registered Dietitian III : Thorough knowledge of : nutritional care for patients with special health care needs which may include metabolic disorders, chronic and digestive diseases, etc.
