Position Summary :
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to supervise staff and manage the maintenance and activities of the City's water distribution system.
In this key role, you will oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of the City's water systems, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
This position requires expertise in hydrant flushing program implementation, service line inventory database management, and use of an electronic work order system.
You will lead a large team, manage work schedules, and make critical decisions that impact the community's essential services.
Normal Shift : 7 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities :
- Supervise, train, and evaluate staff in the maintenance of water systems.
- Coordinate and schedule work activities for both City staff and outside contractors.
- Manage the hiring, termination, and performance evaluation processes for team members.
- Assist in budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with financial guidelines.
- Develop and implement administrative policies, regulatory actions, and capital purchases.
- Respond to customer and resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Emergency response availability on a 24-hour basis.
Minimum Requirements :
- Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- High School graduate or GED certificate and at least four (4) years of experience as a technician or equivalent.
- Class "A" CDL valid in the state of Missouri, or obtained within 120 days of employment. A commercial driver's instruction permit (CDIP) must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to frequently lift and / or move 50 pounds.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and communicate information from blueprints or plans.
- Ability to operate an engineering level and basic surveying equipment.
- Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer application programs.
- Certification in Confined Space Entry or obtain within one (1) year.
- Certification as an IMSA Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician or obtained within one (1) year.
- Completion of City Supervisory Course or obtain within one (1) year.
- Missouri Water Environment Voluntary Collection Systems Operator Class A Certification or Missouri Department of Natural Resources Distribution System Operator Certification DS-III or obtain within one (1) year.
