The ability to perform independent research related to the sustainability of beef cattle systems is required. Such research will span a breadth of expertise with specific focus on enteric methane emissions from beef cattle production systems.
Translating theoretical science into systems level impact and adoption is necessary for success. PhD experience is required, including knowledge of concepts in experimental design and data analysis across livestock systems.
Organizational skills, personnel supervision, group coordination, experimental design, data analysis, and capabilities in producer outreach and engagement will be necessary. Required Job Qualifications
- PhD in Animal Science, or related fields completed by start date
- Demonstrated success in publishing
- Experience with data analysis
- Experience with beef cattle systems and greenhouse gas emissions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in leading projects through to publication
- Experience with project and team management
- Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license or access to a licensed driver by start date
- Ability to travel primarily statewide and nationally

- Projects will focus on enhancing sustainability of beef cattle systems through new technologies, enteric methane mitigation, reactive nitrogen mitigation, improved production efficiency, risk management, animal health and behavior monitoring as well as soil, plant, animal and atmospheric microbiomes, among other areas.
