Major Areas of Responsibility Include :

Accurately complete the inspection procedures established for each product to statistically ensure that only products that meet DPC’s quality standards are released for shipment to customers.

Authorized to hold or reject product and to report all quality defects to supervisory personnel for action.

  • Remain constantly up-to-date regarding customer quality requirements and assist manufacturing personnel in meeting or exceeding these requirements by informing production employees of customer quality expectations.
  • Generate and maintain the necessary documentation to ensure traceability of all products.
  • Complete QC inspection rounds in a timely fashion’, conducting four (4) inspections per machine per shift while collecting sample parts for QC evaluation as required for each product.

Complete QC inspection forms as required.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Visually inspect parts and perform all required product quality tests according to established quality standards in order to determine the acceptability of the parts and to immediately identify any known or suspected quality defects to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate documentation on all products within their control.
  • Make accept / reject decisions regarding product and packaging. Refer out-of-specification conditions to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Enter and save source data in computer systems and access data to perform statistical and mathematical calculations.
  • Manually calculate the average, range and other basic numerical functions of source data.
  • Correctly respond to out-of-control conditions on control charts by issuing a 320 correction notification.
  • Perform visual inspections for attribute characteristics such as : color opacity, voids, knit lines, watermarks, burning, tamper marks, excessive glue, liner moons, etc.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled Line Clearance / Line Startup Inspections and complete Line Clearance Checklists in a timely fashion to assure that all line clearance procedures have been properly completed.

Sign off on Line Clearance Checklist to authorize production operations to begin.

  • Prepare batch record paperwork and print required labels for production.
  • Perform inspections to verify that correct raw materials are being used in all molding and lining operations.
  • Maintain traceability on incoming and production materials by following documented incoming procedures and test methods.
  • Perform routine filing and record retention.
  • Maintain all areas around equipment and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Follow safety guidelines, Company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements :

Good mathematical skills to perform calculations adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Effectively utilize statistical concepts such as Min , Max , Average , Cpk , Cp , and 3 sigma .

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing,
  • Ability to read and interpret instructional materials.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn company computer databases.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize computer equipment to record and perform analysis of QC source data.
  • Ability to accurately and effectively utilize calipers, scales, optical comparators, and various other devices to sample, test, record and maintain quality assurance source information.
  • Ability to read and interpret cap drawings and blue prints, and effectively utilize them in performing job duties, as well as in determining whether the product meets quality standards.
  • Ability to use digital calipers and indicators to perform dimensional measurements of variable characteristics such as diameter, concavity and depth on threaded parts.
  • Ability to use an optical comparator to determine variable characteristics such as core flash, parting line flash and gate vestige.
  • Demonstrated ability to make well thought out decisions and ensures appropriate courses of action are taken.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and under pressure.
  • Vision must be correctable to ’20-20’ to read all necessary work related materials and visually identify defects in products being produced.

Must be able to perceive and accurately identify differences in colors and shadings.

  • Hearing acuity sufficient to understand spoken instructions or phone conversations in a factory environment.
  • Ability to work overtime (OT) as required.

Education and Experience :

  • 3 to 5 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • A thorough knowledge of the processes involved in plastic injection molding and closure lining.
  • Plastics industry experience a plus.

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
  • The work performed by the employee is indoors.
  • The employee is required to sit and walk for approximately 1 / 3 of the portion of the job, while the other 2 / 3 the employee is required to stand for lengthy periods of time for the job.
  • The employee must have good motor skills and be able to frequently lift and carry 5lbs. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and carry 55 lbs.
  • The employee is required to occasionally bend and reach above shoulder level, as well as turn, twist, pull, and push.
  • Vision abilities for this job include close vision.
