Responsibilities :
Vision and Leadership
Review practices, policies, and initiatives to ensure a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Participate in the annual Division of College Life, Multicultural Life and Housing & Residence Life strategic planning and annual reporting efforts.
Student Supervision & Support
Directly supervise up to two Head Resident Advisors (HRAs), 11 Resident Advisors (RAs) and functionally supervise 5 Multicultural Life interns and 5 Multicultural Life student workers.
Plan and facilitate weekly supervision meetings with HRAs, biweekly supervision meetings with RAs, and 2 Head Resident Advisor staff meetings per month.
Facilitate the HRA / RA evaluation process.
Facilitate RA training sessions.
Provide mentorship, advising and coaching support for underrepresented students across their multiple identities and affinity groups.
Adjudicate conduct hearings for minor violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
Follow up with students of concern and assist with referrals to campus partners.
Educate and manage conflict resolution through restorative practices.
Residential Education & Curriculum
Coordinate the implementation of residential curriculum components, including budget management, resident advisor program completion and collaboration with campus partners.
Serve as a direct liaison between Multicultural Life and Residence Life in connecting curriculum efforts and elements.
Facilitate area meetings.
Residential Facilities Management
Manage three residence hall facilities housing up to 475 upper class students, including opening and closing of residence facilities for the academic year and breaks, managing the inventory process, conducting inspections and bi-weekly walk-throughs, and reviewing for common area damages.
Multicultural Life
Support student-directed projects and events, which may include : Multicultural Council, Shout-Outs, and MLK week events, etc.
Serve as staff mentor for the Emerging Leader Program.
Manage communications between the Multicultural Center and affinity groups on campus including periodic check-ins and annual report reviews for these culturally-based organizations.
Enhance student leadership skills, providing relevant material for training and leadership transitions within Multicultural Life.
Other Duties
Participate in weekly Housing & Residence Life (HRL) professional staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Associate Dean of Students & Diversity Initiatives & Associate Director of Residential Education, Multicultural Life professional staff meetings, and Equity team meetings.
Participate in on-call duty rotation for residential population with HRL professional staff.
Assist with department, divisional and campus wide projects and committees.
Facilitate presentations and attend HRL and Multicultural Life campus events.
May perform other duties as assigned.
While no one person may possess all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will have many of the following professional experiences and characteristics :
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in Student Affairs or a related field preferred.
Previous housing / residence life experience preferred but not required.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging .
Ability to speak publicly and serve in a trainer capacity on DEIB related topics.
Ability to advise student clubs and organizations, special interest communities, and / or fraternities and sororities.
Excellent organizational / multitasking skills.
Ability to work in a self-directed fashion while serving as a member of a collaborative team.
Knowledge of and ability to apply student development theory.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal and written communication.
Ability to organize and direct multiple activities simultaneously.
Flexibility in work schedule; ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
MS Office and Google Workspace proficiency.
Successful completion of satisfactory background checks required.
