The Executive Director operates under the general direction of the agency’s Board of Directors (BOD). The executive director is the delegated authority responsible for program operations, financial management, and policy implementation by the Board of Directors.
The role of Executive Director at CASA of Ohio Valley is a full-time, exempt position. The position requires an ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Key responsibilities include :
- Mission and Vision Adherence : Ensure that all actions and decisions align with the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of the organization.
- Agency Management :
- Planning : Develop and implement strategic plans for the organization’s growth and effectiveness.
- Program Oversight : Ensure program services are efficient, effective, and compliant with regulations and policies.
- Staff and Volunteer Management : Recruit, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers to foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Policy and Procedures Development : Collaborate with the Board of Directors to create and update policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation and compliance with relevant laws and best practices.
- Financial Management and Fund Development :
- Financial Controls : Assist in developing and reviewing financial controls and practices.
- Fiscal Operations : Manage day-to-day fiscal operations, including overseeing accounts payable and receivable in coordination with the Board Treasurer and Bookkeeper.
- Grants Management : Coordinate and manage agency grants, including progress reports.
- Budgeting : Work with the Board to prepare the agency budget and long-term funding plans for sustainability.
- Record Keeping : Maintain records according to required policies and regulations.
- Fund Development Plan : Create and implement a fund development plan, including donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Key Relationships :
- Family Court : Act as the main liaison, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- CASA Board : Cultivate a strong working relationship with the Board, supporting best practices in governance, recruitment, and training.
- Community Agencies and Funding Sources : Build and maintain relationships with other organizations and funders to support and expand CASA’s work.
- Stakeholder Relationships : Maintain relationships with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for serving children in the dependency, abuse, and neglect (DNA) court system.
- Public Representation : Represent CASA of Ohio Valley to the public, advocating for the organization’s mission and addressing any concerns or complaints in line with program risk management protocols and Board directives.
- Program Oversight :
- Oversee : the achievement of program goals and objectives. Ensure that all activities comply with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Additional Duties : Perform other duties as directed by the Board of Directors to ensure the organization's credibility, integrity, and sustainability.
Qualifications :
- Background Clearance : Must complete 4 background checks (including criminal, child abuse, adult protection, and sexual abuse).
- Educational and Professional Background :
- Bachelor’s Degree : Minimum requirement, ideally in a relevant field such as social work, nonprofit management, or business administration.
- Leadership Experience : Proven track record of effective leadership, preferably with a minimum of 5 years in a social service agency, nonprofit sector, or court-related program.
- Skills and Expertise :
- Organizational Management : Excellence in organizational management, including strong leadership and personnel management skills.
- Board Interaction : Successful experience working with a Board of Directors, including cultivating and maintaining board member relationships.
- Fundraising and Development : Demonstrated success in fundraising, including leading sustainable fund development and marketing campaigns.
Experience with grant writing and grant management practices.
- Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills. A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multidisciplinary projects.
- Child Development Knowledge : Experience or knowledge in child development and / or volunteer program management.
- Understanding of Child Welfare : Insight into the dynamics of child abuse, neglect, childhood trauma, and resilience.
- Financial Management : Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, budgeting, and financial management systems.
- Operational Planning : Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate system operations effectively.
- Supervisory Experience : Prior experience in supervising and recruiting both volunteers and employees.
- Community Resources : Extensive knowledge of community resources and the ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
- Technology and Social Media : Familiarity with technological trends, including social media channels relevant to fundraising, marketing, and community engagement.

Pay : $60,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
