Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group. Department of Otolaryngology, is currently seeking fellows in Advanced Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery.
This is a one-year operative program focusing on thyroid and parathyroid surgery, while allowing for a broad exposure to Head & Neck Surgery.
Two-year commitments are considered on a case-by-case basis. Mission electives are strongly encouraged.
This is an opportunity to train in a dedicated thyroid / parathyroid practice. The fellow will be primarily mentored by an expert in this niche practice with almost 2 decades of experience and gain from this specialized practice.
The fellow would be expected to participate in over 300 thyroid and parathyroid operations including reoperative thyroid / parathyroid surgeries, minimally invasive techniques, management of regional metastatic disease and surgery for non-localizing disease.
The fellow is also expected to gain expertise in thyroid / parathyroid ultrasound and cancer management. To provide balance to this focused mentor based experience, the fellow will have exposure to contemporary thyroid and parathyroid practices as managed by 6 full-time fellowship trained Head & Neck surgical oncologists who also routinely perform thyroid / parathyroid surgery.
Additional H&N cases can be covered based on fellow interest, including : major head and neck ablative cases, microvascular reconstructions, TOLMS / TORS, endoscopic skullbase surgery, open / craniofacial surgery.
A blended operative experience is ideal, with the fellow’s interest dictating the exact case mix. Participation in resident and student education as well as limited research is expected.
The fellow has opportunity to assist at the VA or county hospital if interested in specific cases.
Limited call and clinic responsibilities exist to ensure expertise in ultrasound and biopsy practices. This is a surgical fellowship, with a focus on operative experience, however, time off and resources for board preparation is provided.
A California Medical License is required.
Applicants should have ENT residency training and the ability to obtain a California Medical License and ENT privileges.

Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and / or faculty rank : $80,000 - $100,000.
This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans.
