The Associate Director, Career Education is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of services and programming related to career education.
This encompasses one-on-one career counseling, career education courses, internship preparation, and resource development, focusing on effectively delivering career education content and contributing to the leadership and strategic direction of the Career Development Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Supervise, train, and provide backup for the Assistant Director for Career Access and Equity.
- Develop strategic plans for career education content delivery
- Lead in planning and oversight of career courses
- Collaborate with colleagues, faculty, and student organizations to implement career-related programs, panels, workshops, etc.
- Manage career workshop requests from campus partners and oversee workshop development and delivery, including standing workshops.
- Counsel and advise students and alumni seeking career support from the CDC as they pursue their professional goals.
- Input counseling session notes into Handshake and lead assessment efforts.
- Stay updated on career services and industry trends; share knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform a job.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Higher Ed, Counseling, HR, or a related field.
- Five to seven years' experience in Career Services, College Relations, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Human Resources, related field, or Emerson related industry (preferred).
- Experience with assessment instruments like CliftonStrengths, Strong Interest Inventory, or MBTI.
- Experience with databases, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Career Services vendor products (e.g., Handshake, PeopleGrove).
- Experience in / knowledge of arts and / or communications career fields (preferred).

This position is primarily a hybrid role with expected days in the office each week.
The hybrid arrangement will be made upon hire. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Boston campus to ensure operational effectiveness.
This arrangement must be approved as outlined in the Remote Work Policy .
Compensation : $77,600.00 - $97,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience.
Grade of Position : 23-10E
