Job Summary

The Vice President of Operations will oversee multiple Oldcastle Pacific manufacturing sites. Based in Northern California and reporting to the General Manager of Oldcastle Pacific, this role requires significant autonomy and a thorough understanding of the business.

It will provide oversight in establishing objectives and performance standards with a focus on continuous improvement while strategically positioning the business for the future state.

The Vice President of Operations will provide leadership direction and mentoring of the operational site leaders for daily operations related to employee safety, product quality, production efficiency, preventative maintenance, capital improvement and regulatory compliance.

  • Build and develop leadership teams using a supportive and collaborative approach; championing employee development to drive continuous improvement at all levels
  • Relates well with individuals at all levels of the organization, builds appropriate rapport, establishes constructive and effective relationships
  • Effectively develops talent for current and future roles in an organization of over 100 direct / indirect reports
  • Collaborates with functional leadership in sales and customer service to deliver an exceptional customer experience
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while providing expertise and guidance on operational strategy
  • Establish objectives and Provide guidance to maintain and improve plant efficiencies
  • Develop methods and procedures to help reduce manufacturing costs and costs of related services within plants and assigned region while delivering best in class quality
  • Research and implement manufacturing best practices, through study of industry and sister companies
  • Develop / Implement annual / monthly goals into meaningful plant metrics; communicate goals and results to direct reports
  • Ability to facilitate change, drive acceptance and lead initiatives despite initial resistance
  • Create a culture of constructive conflict and open feedback with employees to drive desired business outcomes and a safe working environment

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of Site Managers in San Martin, Gilroy, Galt, Tracy, Stockton
  • Provide leadership and direction for overall production in accordance with our vision and values
  • Inspire, train and coach team members on daily responsibilities, procedures, or process changes
  • Monitor performance of each team member and provide feedback
  • Work with Site Managers to improve manufacturing processes and ensure quality of products while maintaining a safe work environment
  • Plan and coordinate efficient use of employees, materials, and machine to meet business goals
  • Communicate necessary information and issues to employees and management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering or related field and 5+ years’ experience in Operations Management or a combination of education and experience to meet requirements
  • Prior experience managing multi-site operations
  • Strong background in maintenance with an understanding of processes and equipment
  • Prior related industry experience is preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel between facilities, up to 20%

Physical Requirements

  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs., extended standing, walking, sitting, bending, climbing, working inside and outside, and use of fall protection equipment
  • Able to perform job tasks in dusty, hot and / or cold working conditions
  • Must wear company provided personal protective equipment - earplugs, hard hat, safety boots / shoes*, and protective glasses
  • Candidates must provide their own safety boots / shoes upon hire and will be eligible to participate in Safety Boots / Shoe Reimbursement Program after 30 days of employment

Compensation

  • Base salary is $180,000 - $200,000
  • Bonus eligible
  • Car allowance and fuel card
