Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty : Short Stay Unit

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour nights

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Experience : Minimum 1 year of experience in General Medicine or more acute settings

License : Current IL RN license

Certifications : BLS (American Heart Association)

Job Description :

• Provide patient care including vitals, assessment, and medication administration.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient status and needs.
• Utilize equipment such as Epic Charting System and Pyxis Medication Cabinets.
• Help cover any adult overflow on General Medicine Floors.
• Work is based in a 13-bed Observation Unit with a 1 : 5 nurse-to-patient ratio, supported by a Charge Nurse.
• Adhere to the dress code : any color scrubs without childish cartoon characters and no microfleece material.
• Participate in a day of Epic Inpatient Nurse training, followed by two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor familiar with the unit.
• Engage with a variety of diagnoses including minor traumas, pre-op surgeries, and GI / GU issues.
• Manage rapid patient turnover with an average 1.5 times bed turnover in a 24-hour period.

Please note guaranteed hours will not apply during the orientation period, which includes 12 nonbillable orientation hours.
