The Electric Drive Transportation Association, the cross-industry trade association promoting the entire value chain of electric drive technology and accelerating the transition to e-mobility, is seeking an experienced Manager of Membership and Events to drive the Association’s recruitment and retention efforts.
The position, reporting directly to the president, identifies, and evaluates information regarding solid prospect leads, determines the best recruitment approach, and develops and implements an effective recruitment membership strategy.
The successful candidate will sustain the high member service excellence standards of EDTA and ensure members’ needs are being met.
An ideal candidate will be skilled in consultative selling with a proven record in closing deals in virtual and in-person selling situations.
The primary focus involves advocating and showcasing the value of EDTA membership to both current and potential members.
The position also includes managing EDTA’s events and designing engagement in industry conferences and events for members, prospects, and industry stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized and proactive in developing event and engagement strategies to enhance member value, build membership and lead successful events.
The Membership and Events Manager must be a self-motivated project manager with ability to manage vendors and project deadlines.
Essential Responsibilities
- Building and pursuing a pipeline of prospective members; developing written proposals and membership agreements; closing and securing memberships.
- Cultivating member relationships and maintaining member engagement, including on-boarding, program participation and membership dues management.
Executing operating procedures for member engagement, new member onboarding, and retention.
- Lead organizer of triennial industry conference, including promotion, sales, and logistics.
- Building the organization’s visibility through strategic engagement in industry events.
- Managing deliverables in third party agreements, including event logistics, promotion and sales activities for registration, sponsorship, and exhibition, as applicable to each event.
- Working closely with the President and Director of Finance to set and meet membership and event revenue goals.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements / Skills
- Bachelor's degree and minimum four years of membership recruitment / business development or sales experience, preferably in a membership organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of recruitment / sales success
- Excellent relationship building skills and ability to engage with people of diverse backgrounds and at senior levels of non-profits and corporations.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
- Organized and detail oriented, with experience managing complex project workflows and timelines and consistently meeting deadlines.
- Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software preferred, including database management and optimization.
- Energy, transportation, or advanced technology industry experience a plus.
- Position is full time, based in Washington, DC, offering a hybrid work schedule.
- Occasional travel required.
