Job Summary :
The BDO National Tax Office (NTO) Advisory practice provides technical leadership and support to firm client service professionals and alliance firms on tax matters, new legislation and Treasury guidance, articles on key tax issues and working with marketing and Tax quality control to ensure high level of information that is disseminated internally and externally.
The Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, International Tax will collaborate amongst NTO professionals and with tax leadership to drive communication efficiencies.
A Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, International Tax serves as a technical resource to the BDO practice offices around the country with a focus on complex international tax issues.
The Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, International Tax is a critical part of the firms Tax Services leadership team and in this capacity will act as source for guidance on complex tax questions and issues.
The role will focus on developing in conjunction with our internal Tax Performance Engineering team a comprehensive model for use in analyzing and advising clients on key quantitative elements of .
international tax law (.., GILTI, BEAT, foreign tax credit). This role will work closely with the NTO International Tax (ITS) Practice Leader to design and implement a go-to market strategy for the firm’s ITS quantitative consulting initiatives.
Job Duties : Tax Specialization
Tax Specialization
- Lead development of BDO ITS quantitative analysis tool
- Prepare and review slide decks, memorandums and opinions relating to international tax matters
- Draft tax alerts for internal and external distribution on international tax developments (regulations, notices, cases,
- Prepare and review technical materials for international tax trainings for the firm
- Present at international technical trainings for the firm
- Assist with drafting external articles on international tax matters
- Assist practice offices in structuring complex cross-border transactions
- Assist practice office with complex quantitative based consulting engagements
Strengthening Our Firm
- Actively participates in office, regional, and national client service efforts
- Actively participates in national, regional, Firm, and Alliance meetings and supports related activities
- Actively participates in national Industry initiatives
- Ensures the national business line conforms with the Firm’s technical standards by examining office review reports from the Director of Quality Control and Technical advisors
Risk Management
- Displays appropriate knowledge of firm regulations and guidelines as stated in the firm’s business line quality control manuals
- Provides on-the-job training
- Puts the interests of the Firm above the interests of a client when resolving issues
- Engages BDO technical, tax, consulting, valuation, and other professionals to resolve client issues

Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Supervises the day-to-day workload of Tax Managers, Senior Associates, Associates, and Interns on assigned engagements and reviews work product and ensures their technical development
- Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for Tax Managers, Senior Associates and Associates and Interns
- Acts as mentor to Tax Managers, Senior Associates, Associates, and Interns, as appropriate
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree, required; focus in Accounting or Finance, preferred
- LLM Tax and / or MST / MBT, preferred
Experience :
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in international taxation or related experience, required
- Experience working with a global accounting firm office or large law firm, preferred
License / Certifications :
CPA or JD, required
Software :
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
- Experience utilizing RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis and / or Westlaw preferred Language :

- Advanced knowledge and understanding of general calculations and cause / effect for taxable conditions on clients and the potential tax issues
- Strong legal writing background and familiarity with the IRAC method of analysis
