Job Summary :
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, daily operations of the sonography laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, and the report of equipment failures;
- Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological diagnostic information and images;
- Maintains a daily log of patients seen / completes exam tracking and charging; Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by Clinicians;
- Prepares preliminary reports and contacts the referring physicians when required, according to established procedures; Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided;
- Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems; Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required;
Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The Ultrasound Technologist will participate in "On-Call" responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications :
Graduate of an approved US Department of Education Ultrasound / Imaging program. RDMS certified in Abdomen and OB / GYN required.
Current CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment.
New graduates who are not currently RDMS certified in OB / GYN & Abdomen will be required to become certified within 1 year of appointment.
Candidates with 1 year or more ultrasound sonographer experience will be considered for appointment to a higher level at a commensurate salary.
