Quality Engineer

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Helps to maintain the Quality Management System and certification under ISO 9001 Standards.
  • Responsible for implementing and sustaining Lean and Six Sigma concepts, interfacing with cross-functional teams and other functional departments.
  • Leads problem solving regarding internal and external customer concerns utilizing tools including 8D, Kaizen, Six Sigma.
  • all driving to understanding Root Cause - implementing corrective and preventative actions and driving continuous improvement.
  • Leads review, development, and implementation of PFMEA, process control plans and poka-yoke opportunities.
  • Perform scheduled Compliance and Leadership Quality Audits and provide Process Improvement Recommendations as a result of these audits.
  • Analyze process related non-conformances.
  • Disposition of Supplier related non-conforming parts or assemblies found at receiving and / or in process inspection during the manufacturing process.
  • Define and document acceptance criteria for manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze manufacturing area Scrap to identify possible root causes and make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Analyze First Pass Yield Rate data and investigate possible root causes and make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Improve Process Controls
  • Assist Manufacturing in implementing Engineering Changes
  • Participate in new process implementation, product transfer and process validation.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting key metrics and developing improvement plan
  • Lead and complete Internal Audits, ensure all ISO Standard rules and regulations are enforced. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
  • Responsible for using Lean concepts found in the Ammega Production System to reduce waste and variation in all plant processes.
  • Ensures all safety procedures are followed and actively works to improve our safety program.
  • Ensures all quality procedures are followed and actively works to improve our quality program.
  • Works to maintain a clean & organized working environment (5s)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Quality, Chemical, or other related Engineering field is required.
  • 5+ years experience within manufacturing Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma tools, 8D problem solving methodology, tool utilization (. 5 Whys, Fishbone (cause & effect) DMAIC, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, Process Auditing, Process Capability analysis, ISO, and Poka Yoke design.
  • Application of Lean and Six Sigma techniques, statistical methods, certification highly desired.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with data, problem resolution, project management.
  • Excellent skills in leadership, communication both verbal and written, and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer and system skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14000, and ISO 45000 standards. Internal Auditor experience is a plus.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work within cross-functional teams
  • Experience in calibration test equipment, product testing and / or functional testing is a plus.
  • Exceptional written, active, and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work in the US.
