DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a lead role in developing, updating, maintaining, and redesigning the PIT, PTBO, Corporation Taxes, Motor Fuels, and Cigarette Tax custom applications and utilities for the data capture environment.

The Senior Applications Developer applies research, systems analysis, and design techniques. This position prepares and reviews system documentation and procedures.

You will have the opportunity to design applications and prepare system / application / program specification. It is essential that you are proficient in system application and software being used, verify readability of images and screens, and manage complex projects.

Communication is key as you will provide training to employees and expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Understanding supported business areas policies, procedures, operations, and systems is vital.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

• Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 7 : 30 am to 3 : 30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• In cases of major incidents or major tasks (like system upgrade that cannot be performed during regular work hours), incumbent will be required to work before or after regular work hours.

Also, in some cases, in office reporting may be required before or after regular work hours.

Telework : You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, reporting to the office as required. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

• One year as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4; or
• Five years of information technology experience that includes three years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance;
• Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
• One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements :

• This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.
• Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to : a fingerprint-based federal records check;
• a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and / or attended school within the last five (5) years;

and a citizenship / residency verification.
