General Summary :

Unum is seeking a dynamic Director, IT Strategy & Transformation to join our Strategic Partner Management Office. This pivotal role focuses on leveraging labor contract management expertise to transform cost reductions into sustainable competitive advantages.

As Director, you will provide strategic technical leadership, overseeing demand planning for all contract labor spend. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, you will collaborate extensively across the DTO organization to deliver a strategic perspective on multi-year contract labor expenditures.

Your efforts will directly support Enterprise Transformation Goals and drive Digital Transformation growth.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of strategies that integrate target setting and optimize end-to-end cost models for integrated processes.

Working closely with Journey Leads, you will define cost reduction methods to achieve optimal outcomes for contract spend.

Additionally, you will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and promoting business capability models, business cases, value levers, conceptual solution designs, and roadmaps, alongside interim and long-term KPIs.

This is a hybrid position that requires a minimum of 3 onsite days per week located in Chattanooga TN, Atlanta, GA, or Portland, ME.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred with relevant professional experience
  • 8+ years of experience in labor contract planning and management, preferably in IT / Engineering / Sourcing
  • Demonstrated understanding of multi-year contract labor expenditures
  • Ability to utilize design-to-cost approach alongside the entire product life cycle (software, product development, etc.

as well as for investments in the Digital Transformation organization

  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies a plus
  • Strong Communications skills; written, verbal and presentation
  • Proven ability to communicate complex, technical information in easily understood manner.
  • Able to combine a understanding of business capabilities, business processes and technology solutioning expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with peers and business partners across the enterprise.
  • Provides effective financial management for third-party vendors, including measurement and reporting.
  • Proven ability to understand complex issues and see solutions that others may not.
  • Able to think conceptually, understand the big picture and convey to others.
  • Strong thirst for knowledge relative to technology advancements and trends.
  • Demonstrated idea orientation and creative thinking.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Able to set a clear and comprehensive cost out vision that will be in line of short-term objectives and long term goals.
  • Will prioritize spending on projects aligned to DTO strategy through the creation of roadmaps and advancing vendor relationships to reduce cost baselines
  • Takes a comprehensive approach to reinvention and optimization when evaluating key cost drivers to better deliver functionality at a lower cost
  • Builds a dedicated cost-out function to calculate costs and facilitate cost-out initiatives, and will influence and gain buy-in from Digital Transformation Stakeholders
  • Responsible for defining business capabilities, decomposition of said capabilities into further levels of detail, capability gap analysis and capability maturity models and progression thereof
  • Accountable for driving / developing business case value levers, technology cost models, and justification for recommended initiatives / options
  • Ability conduct business / technology fit-gap, solution options evaluations and analyses and presents vendor platform, or package selection choices
  • Provides expert recommendations based on strong front-to-back understanding of exiting digital capabilities and frameworks combined with a strong understanding of emerging technologies.
  • Understands and supports organizational goals / priorities and contributes to strategic decisions.
  • Acts as a role-model and mentor for other IT professionals at various levels in technical matters and related business operations.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$109,100.00-$213,300.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.

5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
