Director of Documentation Management
Staff Supervised : 1-4 Direct Reports
Job Summary :
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Document Management Department, including prescription, supporting medical documentation and prior authorization procurement, as well as AOBs or ABNs in the event they are required.
Making sure all staff are properly trained and producing efficiently with a high degree of accuracy.
Essential Duties :
- Provide coverage criteria and documentation criteria training for all staff members and ensure they are meeting established productivity and accuracy standards.
- Develop and enforce individual productivity and accuracy standards for all team members that when met will ensure the department will achieve the established departmental goals.
- Collaborate with intake management to ensure all intake staff members are obtaining the necessary information to produce an accurate order that can be reimbursed.
- Work with IT to make sure the documentation team has all the necessary tools and resources to do their jobs.
- Other responsibilities assigned by Leadership.
Education, Experience and Competencies :
- Bachelors degree highly preferred; High School Diploma and / or GED required.
- Five or more years of experience in Medicaid or Medicare billing. Experience in a DME environment a plus.
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge of government and private insurance documentation standards and practices as well as HIPAA privacy requirements.
- Able to accomplish goals and initiatives within budgetary constraints and envision and implement continuous improvements in processes and expense management.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, technical procedures, and Medicare / Medicaid regulations.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively develop staff and to conduct appropriate performance evaluation and management activities.
- Demonstrates strong organization and project management skills ; able to multi-task and manage time in order to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
and ability to lead others effectively and positively through change.
