Job Objectives :

Responsible for personnel management, business and contract management and customer service at Methodist Medical Center for the Plant Engineering, Maintenance / Renovation, departments.

Provides leadership in all department activities. Assist unit leaders of departments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for management of the Plant Engineering, Maintenance / Renovation activities.
• Responsible for the safe, efficient operation of the physical plant of the hospital and its utilities.
• Responsible for maintenance of all buildings, grounds, and distribution systems for the facility.
• Responsible for personnel management including hiring, firing, and disciplinary measures as required with assistance from unit supervisor(s).
• Responsible for meeting the Joint Commission, OSHA and State of Tennessee standards for all units within the department.
• Responsible for conducting annual performance appraisals for all employees and coaches employees as needed.
• Responsible for customer satisfaction issues relating to all facilities services.
• Responsible for preparation and integrity of operating and capital budgets for department.
• Responsible for purchasing and vendor relations for department.
• Responsible for working with Materials Services and Capital Equipment Committee on equipment and technology assessment.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of preventative maintenance systems.
• Responsible for inspecting equipment on a regular basis for quality assurance and for fire and safety issues.
• Evaluates and makes recommendations to leadership for improvements to the physical plant and the Engineering Department.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education :

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and / or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.

Preference may be given to individuals possessing a Bachelor’s degree in a directly-related field from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Experience :

Must have at least seven (7) years of experience in supervision of a maintenance / facilities department. Experience in budgeting, contract and personnel management required.
